Industry Specific ComplianceThe Government of Nagaland on June 30, 2026, issued the Nagaland Building Byelaws (4th Amendment) 2025 to further amend the Nagaland Building Bye-laws 2012.

The following amendments have been stated:

• In Section 2 of the Nagaland Building Byelaws 2012, in the definition the following sub sections shall be added:

Section 2 xxix: Building Plan Approval Committee (BPAC): BPAC refers to the

Committee constituted at ULB level comprising of technical experts from line departments of Government of Nagaland for the purpose of sanctioning Building Permits, Ocсирапсу Certificate and carrying out inspections for Moderate and High-Risk category buildings.

Section 2 xxx: For the Purpose of affecting Amendments, Reviews and Modification of the Byelaws, Competent Authority shall mean the Building Byelaws Review Committee constituted by the Municipal Affairs Department under section 334.

• Amendment to Section 33 in the Nagaland Building Byelaw 2012.

After Section 33, the following Section(s)33A and 33B shall be inserted:

Section 33A: A Building Byelaws Review Committee shall be constituted by the Municipal Affairs Department and shall be the competent authority for periodical review, amendments, relaxation and modifications of the Nagaland Building Byelaws.

Section 33B: The Building Byelaws Review Committee so constituted shall recommend to the Government for amendments, relaxations and modifications of any Section of the Byelaws and whose decision shall be final.

It shall come into force from June 30, 2026.
